MG's Kitchen
Family Cooking Platform

A platform where families collect recipes, cook together, and share what they make. Social feed, mobile-first, real active users.
Overview
A platform for families to collect their recipes, cook from them, and share what they make. Users sign up, build their family cookbook, and see a social feed of meals cooked by people they know.
Challenge
Every family has recipes scattered across handwritten cards, texts, and memories. There's no good way to collect them in one place and actually use them together. I wanted a platform that turns cooking into a shared experience, not just a recipe archive.
Approach
Built a Supabase backend with full auth, PostgreSQL storage, and RLS policies for privacy. Families control which recipes are private and which are public.
Designed mobile-first with pull-to-refresh, bottom navigation, and optimized image uploads. Added HEIC support for iOS users and client-side compression.
Created a social feed where users post photos of recipes they've cooked. Comments and reactions turn meals into shared moments.
Used TipTap for rich text recipe editing - ingredients, steps, and notes with proper formatting.
Outcome
Active users with 80+ recipes. The social feed changed how people interact with recipes - they see what others are making and get inspired to cook. The platform works as a real product, not a demo.
